Dubai: Mangalore Konkans Dubai, a premier organization of UAE which is known for its motto of serving humanity and promoting Konkani culture in UAE organized a blood donation Campaign on Dec 4 at Dubai Blood Donation Centre(New) Al Jaddaf, Dubai. This campaign was planned to show love and respect to the UAE nation on the occasion of its 51st National Day celebration.
Mangalore Konkans Dubai volunteers guided the blood donors along with Blood donation unit officials and encouraged donors. A total of 42 donors donated blood on that day whereas a few of the aspirant donors were not accepted by the authority as they were not meeting the criteria required. Mangalore Konkans Dubai expressed their gratitude to donors and also the people who showed interest to donate blood and thanked them with gift bags.
On the occasion of the campaign, a well-known personality of the UAE and promoter of blood donation campaigns, Balakrishna Salian was honoured behalf of Mangalore Konkans Dubai. Balakrishna Salian has organized more than 500 campaigns in UAE and himself donated blood more than 50 times. He is also active in social activities and member of many organizations in the UAE. Mangalore Konkans Dubai members Stany, Wilfred, Tracy, Kumar and Sonali honoured Balakrishna Salian with a shawl, memento, flowers and a gift basket. Speaking to the gathering Balakrishna said, for the past 30 years UAE has given good life to me and I am returning my small contribution to UAE by organizing blood donation camps. He urged everyone to promote blood donation and donate blood when it’s possible to donate. Balakrishna thanked Mangalore Konkans Dubai for the honour and assured his support for any future social activities of MKD.
