Klassical Rhythms holds 11th annual showcase in Dubai

Dubai: Klassical Rhythms had its 11th Annual showcase in Dubai on Dec. 11, 2022, at the Alliance Francaise Auditorium. The team founded and mentored by Nritya Ratna Vidushi Rohini Ananth stepped into its 11th year in UAE. Formerly known as Swaralaya school of performing arts, the India team is celebrating 24 years now. Rohini’s vision to foster an understanding and appreciation of Indian art and culture through quality training in the Bharatanatyam form of classical Indian dance has grown leaps and bounds and is on the rise to becoming one of the premier dance teams not only in UAE but also in India.

Rohini Ananth, the brain behind the team, is a well-known guru in the field of Indian classical dance, Bharatanatyam. She is a luminary in the art circles of India and UAE. Dedicated, creative, artistic, and passionate, Rohini is the promoter of her own dance house, Klassical Rhythms. A graded Doordarshan artist, anchor, singer and producer on TV channels, her productions likewise have gained universal appeal. Various awards bestowed on her as ‘ Kannada Seva Ratna’, ‘Kannadiga Ratna’, ‘Kala Tapasvi’, Femina woman achiever of 2018, Rani Chennamma Award by Karnataka state government, Nritya Ratna title, Chanakya Award, Aryabhata Award, International women award for promoting Indian dance abroad are a testimony of her dancing excellence. Dance is a medium through which she teaches her students life. Her choreographic skills are matched only by her dedication to her art, unfolding the best in every disciple. She has kept the art form and the Kannada flag flying high in various countries.

The 11th annual day was graced by Vibha Talathi (Mental Health Coach) and Deepak Sridharan and Mrinalini Deepak (Hobnob Events) as Chief guests.

The event opened with a Sabha Vandanam for a Kannada Devaranama glorifying the importance of a Guru in a student’s life. . Aadvus, Kauthvam, Kritis, Vachana, Padam and Thillana followed next. The highlight of the evening was a Malayalam fusion song Aalayal Thara.The evening showcased dancers of all ages between 6 to 45. About 30 budding artists put their best foot forward captivating the audience with their breath-taking performances. The evening showcased 2 senior dancers of the team, Ishani M., and Tanvi Sunder Kanchan, with their solo renderings. The songs chosen were from different languages to cater to the pan-India audience. The houseful performance was hosted by Ragini Shenoy, Ratna Ramesh Kumar and Master Srihari Krishna.

The audience responded enthusiastically to the dancers’ performances as they displayed mastery of the dances rendered. Vibha Talathi (Mental Health Coach) and Deepak Sridharan and Mrinalini Deepak (Hobnob Events) were Chief guests.

The Audience were extremely encouraging, and the hall was resounding with their applause after each performance, especially for the solo recitals of the senior dancers of the team Tanvi Sunder Kanchan and Ishani Mohapatra. Overall, it was an event which will be cherished for a long time.
