Befitting finale to DK Sahitya Sammelana through cultural events

Mangaluru: The 25th Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Sammelana concluded at the Sara Aboobacker stage of Kumble SundarRao Sri Krishnanugraha Auditorium here on Sunday February 5.

The cultural programme, which began after the conclusion of the conference in the evening, was preceded by four programmes by the children of ‘Sanidhya’, a school for differently-abled children in Mangaluru and Ujire.

In the first, the children performed Yakshagana of ‘Bhakta Prahlada’, in a way that was no less than a skilled artiste. This was followed by a vocal recital by Pooja, a student of ‘Sanidhya’ School in Mangaluru, and a mass dance by the school students of Ujire to the song “Ghallu Ghallenutaav Gejje”.

Later, the stage witnessed a special programme called ‘Amar Jawan’ based on the lives of soldiers, which has been successfully screened at around 50 locations.

The Founder Director of the show, Dr. Vasantha Kumar Shetty was felicitated.

Later, a solo Bharatanatyam performance was staged by Vidushi Pranati Chaitanya of Padyana. The Balaleela of Lord Krishna, the dialogue between Sri Rama and Shoorpanakhi, and Sabari’s devotion to Rama were presented through dance. They entertained art lovers for about 45 minutes.

At the end, ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ fame Rajat Mayya’s troupe performed melodious songs.
