Mysuru: Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Srinivas visited the house of Jayamma, a woman from Hanumanapura Village in Nanjanagudu Taluk of Varuna Assembly Constituency, and shifted her to JSS Oldage Home.

Jayamma, daughter of Late Maniyayya of Hanumanapura Village, was an orphan without any relatives. She lived a miserable life in a small hut without infrastructure. It was difficult to make a living with an inadequate pension money she was receiving. There was a situation of resorting to food provided by neighbours.

For the first time, News Kannada, the sister News Karnataka media in Kannada, published a comprehensive report on the plight of woman and tried to open the eyes of the administration, people’s representatives and the society.

Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Srinivas, Child Development Project Officer and Women and Child Welfare Department Officer Manjula and Gram Panchayat Development Officer Srinivas visited the spot and responded to the pain of the differently-abled woman.

The specially-abled woman, who was living on pension money, was on Wednesday February 8 given permanent shelter by the authorities and shifted to JSS Oldage Home in Mysuru.

“We will give all the facilities that come from the Government to the disabled woman,” said Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Srinivas.
