Bidar: Basava Festival organises Patanga Utsava programme

Bidar: MLC Shashil G. Namoshi said that kite festivals are rare in our part of the Country but in North India these festivals are organised in a big way.

He was speaking after participating in the ‘Patanga Utsava’ programme organised as part of Basava Festival at Basavakalyana Thera Ground here on Saturday March 11. He said that Basava Utsava was not held for the last three to four years due to COVID – 19 and now it has brought joy to the people of State. More people should participate in this festival, he said.

He said that since the thread of kite is very sharp, it should be flown carefully and Basavanna’s karmabhoomi will do good for all those who have come from different places including Hyderabad to participate in the vent. Basavanna had brought about a revolution for social equality 800 years ago, he said and added that Kailasa means the work which he had preached in his philosophy and the principles to the world through vachanas.

Kalyana region was a backward part and today development works are going on and thus more people should participate in Basava Utsava and enjoy the joy of the festival by watching the various programmes happening here.

The dignitaries kicked off the kite festival by flying kites of different colours and colourful kites caught the eye of the onlookers at the festival.

Basavakalyan MLA Sharanu Salagara, Basavakalyan Assistant Commissioner Ramesh Kolar, Basavakalyan Municipal Council President Shahnaz Tanvir Shaikh, Bidar Urban Development Authority Commissioner Abhay Kumar, Basavakalyan Tahasildar Shantagowda Biradar, Hulasur Tahasildar Shivanand Metre and others were present on the occasion.
