Kodagu MP Pratap Simha Announces Another Vande Bharat to Mysore

Mysuru: The announcement of another Vande Bharat Express Train between Mysore and Chennai via Bangalore has brought a significant enhancement to rail connectivity among the three cities. Mysore Kodagu MP Pratap Simha revealed that the new Vande Bharat Express service linking Bangalore and Chennai is scheduled to commence operations from April 5.

According to the Railway Ministry’s notification, the train number 20663 Mysore-MGR Chennai Vande Bharat Express will depart from Mysore at 6 AM, reaching MGR Chennai at 12:20 PM. This service will operate daily except on Wednesdays.

The newly introduced Vande Bharat Express will make stops at Mandya, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) Bangalore Baiyappanahalli, Krishnarajapuram, and Katpadi. For the return journey from Chennai, train number 20664 will depart at 5 PM and arrive in Mysore at 11:20 PM daily, excluding Wednesdays. Stops will include Katpadi, Krishnarajapuram, SMVT Bangalore, and Mandya stations.

In a proposal presented to Railway Minister Ashwin Vaishnav on March 8, MP Pratap Singh advocated for direct Vande Bharat express services from Mysore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to inaugurate the new Vande Bharat train on March 12. Commencing from April 5, the daily service (except on Wednesdays) promises improved connectivity. Notably, the new Vande Bharat Express will sport distinctive orange and white colors, a departure from the previous white and blue scheme.

In November 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the inaugural Vande Bharat train running between Chennai and Mysore via Bangalore, marking a significant milestone in rail transportation.
