Cop Injured In ‘Accidental Gun Firing’ at Ayodhya Ram Temple Complex

Ayodhya: A member of the provincial armed constabulary (PAC) sustained injuries due to an unintentional discharge of his firearm while engaged in weapon maintenance at his assigned location within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex on Tuesday evening, as per authorities.

The injured individual identified as Platoon Commander Ram Prasad, aged 50, was promptly transported to Ayodhya Medical College for immediate medical attention. However, due to the severity of his condition, he was subsequently transferred to KGMU Lucknow for further treatment.

Ram Prasad has been stationed at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya for approximately six months as part of security duties.

According to Inspector General of Police Pravin Kumar, the incident occurred during routine weapon cleaning procedures at the designated post.

Dr. Vinod Kumar Arya, the emergency in-charge at the Ayodhya medical college, reported that the bullet struck Ram Prasad on the left side of his chest, necessitating his transfer to KGMU in Lucknow due to the critical nature of his injuries.

Ram Prasad hails from Achalpur village in the Amethi district.
