In the coastal region of Karnataka, temperatures have been steadily rising in recent days, prompting concerns among residents and authorities alike. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted a prolonged dry spell ahead, with the State Disaster Management Authority corroborating these predictions.
According to authorities, this weather pattern is expected to persist until the first week of April, raising apprehensions about potential pre-monsoon rains thereafter. Already, some areas along the coast are facing drinking water shortages, and without precipitation soon, conditions are likely to worsen.
Weather experts are cautioning about the looming possibility of a heat wave reminiscent of last year. Traditionally, the coastal region anticipates pre-monsoon showers by the second week of March, but this year’s delay has heightened concerns.
In Mangaluru, temperatures are projected to soar beyond 35 degrees Celsius in the upcoming days. Wednesday already saw a maximum temperature of 33.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.4 degrees Celsius, indicating the intensifying heatwave conditions
