Date : 14-04-2024

The Ballari police have busted a fake currency ring and arrested two accused on charges of printing counterfeit Indian currency notes.

Ashok and Harish were allegedly attempting to print counterfeit Indian currency notes using a color Xerox machine in Mohan Lodge in the city.

The police team, led by Inspector Siddarameshwar and PSI Soumya, conducted the raid and caught the accused red-handed. The prime accused, Ashok, was an employee at the Bank of Baroda and knew the bank’s transactions and minute details of the currency, said the police.

The accused duo wanted to circulate the fake currency notes as the model code of conduct was in place, and the situation was favorable for peddling notes in the market during the Lok Sabha election.

Officials have seized as many as 8,000 fake currency notes from them. Gandhi Nagar police have registered a case, and the investigation is ongoing.
