Bengaluru: Australia all-rounder, Royal Challengers Bengaluru prominent player, Glenn Maxwell did not get a chance to play in the playing eleven against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Maxwell had been struggling both with bat and ball. Will Jacks replaced him for the game, which saw a total of 549 runs scored. Maxwell later revealed during a press conference that he made the decision due to not being in the right mental and physical state.

Maxwell mentioned that he asked skipper Faf du Plessis and the coaches after the last game which they lost to Mumbai Indians, expressing his feeling that it was time to give someone else a chance. He stressed the importance of recognizing when to step back to avoid worsening one’s situation. Maxwell didn’t give the duration of his break but mentioned the need to focus on his mental well-being and physical condition. He expressed hope of returning to the tournament in a stronger position to contribute effectively.

Maxwell admitted his recent poor performance, especially after the powerplay, an area where he had excelled. Feeling that he wasn’t positively contributing with the bat, he believed it was the right time to provide an opportunity for another player to prove their abilities.

RCB’s match against SRH was a high scoring one, in which 549 runs were scored in an IPL match. SRH batting first scored 287 runs and RCB gave a valiant fight and was able to score 262 runs. Dinesh Karthik and Faf Duplessis were star for the Bengaluru team.
