Kalaburagi Police Take Action Against Weapon-Wielding Reels

Kalaburagi: In a first for the state, the Kalaburagi police have launched a crackdown on youths creating social media reels featuring dangerous weapons. The initiative comes after authorities observed a concerning trend of such reels going viral.

In last one month, the Kalaburagi police have registered nine cases and arrested individuals involved in producing reels that shows them wielding guns, swords, and other weapons. These reels often mimic movie villains or showcase reckless behavior, raising concerns about the potential influence on viewers, especially children.

Kalaburagi District Superintendent of Police, Akshya Hakay, expressed his disapproval to these reels, these kinds of videos negatively impact the society. He stated glamorizing the violence through such reels, potentially leading to increased criminal activity in the future.

The police department aim to curb this trend and promote responsible social media use. The police have urged young people to stay away from creating or sharing reels that involve dangerous weapons.
