Congress Candidate Calls for Representation that Serves the People

Date : 18-04-2024

K. Jayaprakash Hegde, the Congress candidate for the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency, emphasized the importance of electing representatives who prioritize the needs of the people. Speaking at a public meeting in Koteshwara, Kundapura Assembly segment, Hegde stressed that a true people’s representative should be accessible and responsive to constituents’ concerns at all times.

Advocating for Constituents’ Needs

Highlighting his past achievements, Hegde recalled his efforts in advocating for the creation of the Udupi district from undivided Dakshina Kannada in 1997. Serving as the district in-charge Minister at the time, he successfully lobbied the government, under then Chief Minister J.H. Patel, to establish Udupi district. This move significantly reduced the hardships faced by residents of remote areas in Kundapura taluk, who previously had to travel long distances to Mangaluru for basic administrative tasks.

Commitment to Address Issues

If elected, Hegde pledged to diligently address the concerns of both the district and the constituency. He promised to work tirelessly to resolve pressing issues and improve the overall welfare of the region.

Support from Party Leaders

The public meeting was attended by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president and MLC Manjunatha Bhandary, among others, demonstrating support for Hegde’s candidacy and his commitment to serving the people.
