Dharwad: A dry and hot spell is expected to grip North Karnataka over the next 3-5 days, according to Dr. R.H. Patil, Nodal Officer for GKMS Unit at the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Dharwad. Citing the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Dr. Patil warns of temperatures reaching 41-42 degrees Celsius between April 23 and 26, particularly in the Kalyana Karnataka region.
While coastal Karnataka will experience hot and humid conditions during this period, with temperatures reaching around 38-39 degrees Celsius, it will be less severe than the north.
The lack of rain in the forecast is concerning, with a very low chance of precipitation across most of North Karnataka for the next five days. Farmers are advised to take necessary precautions to protect their crops from the heatwave.
