Date : 23-04-2024

Police announced on Tuesday that two firearms used in the shooting incident targeting the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan in Mumbai were discovered in the Tapi river in Surat, Gujarat. Along with the pistols, divers recovered three magazines and 13 cartridges.

The individuals identified as Vicky Gupta, aged 24, and Sagar Pal, aged 21, fired five shots at Khan’s Galaxy Apartment in Bandra on April 14. They were apprehended in Gujarat last week. Authorities revealed that Gupta and Pal were allegedly under the guidance of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol.

Footage shared by law enforcement showed a diver retrieving one of the guns and a magazine from the river. Despite only one firearm being used in the attack, investigators disclosed that both Gupta and Pal were equipped with a gun each for the operation. Pal reportedly discharged the weapon while Gupta operated the motorcycle they rode.

Last week, Bishnoi, currently imprisoned at Sabarmati central prison for a separate offense, and his brother, believed to be residing in Canada or the US, were declared “wanted accused” in the case. Following the shooting, a social media post allegedly authored by Anmol Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the assault.

Sources within the police department revealed that the shooters were promised ₹4 lakh for the task, intended to intimidate Khan without causing harm. Prior to the incident, they surveyed Khan’s farmhouse in Panvel. The perpetrators frequently changed SIM cards obtained from various locations.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has filed charges of attempted murder and criminal intimidation. Additionally, authorities are preparing to record Khan’s testimony as a witness in the ongoing investigation.
