A tragic incident occurred on an Indonesian volcano renowned for its captivating “blue fire” phenomenon. Reports indicate that a 31-year-old Chinese woman, Huang Lihong, lost her life after accidentally falling from the edge of a crater while posing for a photograph. Accompanied by her husband on a guided tour, the couple had ascended to the crater’s edge in hopes of witnessing the sunrise.

Law enforcement authorities disclosed that the woman fell approximately 75 meters, succumbing to the impact of the fall. The incident has been classified as an accident, as reported by sources. According to statements from the tour guide, despite being cautioned about the perilous nature of the area, Ms. Lihong ventured too close to the edge while taking pictures. Tragically, she lost her footing and fell into the crater after her clothing became entangled, though it remains uncertain whether she was wearing a skirt or a dress.

Rescue efforts endured for roughly two hours before retrieving the victim’s body. Notably, the Ijen volcano is famed for its mesmerizing “blue fire,” resulting from the combustion of sulfuric gases. However, despite periodic emissions of noxious gases, the site remains open to the public.

Indonesia, known for its extensive volcanic activity, recently witnessed another eruption from Mount Ruang in North Sulawesi. Beginning on April 16, the volcano’s eruptions prompted evacuations as molten rocks descended upon nearby villages. The eruption, characterized by fiery lava, towering ash columns, and volcanic lightning, propelled a plume of smoke 400 meters above the peak, according to Indonesia’s volcanology agency.
