Mumbai: Actor Shekhar Suman, known for his role in the 1984 film “Utsav” and the television show “Movers and Shekhars,” has opened up about his role and performance in the erotic movie “Utsav.” He played a important role in the film with actress Rekha and performed some intimate scenes with her.
As the actor gears up for the upcoming Netflix series, “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, he recalled Rekha’s professionalism in an interview with Siddharth Kannan.
Recalling an incident during the shooting of “Utsav,” Shekhar said the veteran actress did not complain about the intimate scenes and praised her professionalism. He mentioned that the actress never refused physical contact, unlike other actresses. He also recounted that on the first day of shooting the movie, the Income Tax department conducted a raid on her house. However, she chose to stay back on set and continued with her work, stating that they were simply doing their jobs.
In this upcoming web series, Shekhar Suman plays the role of Zulfiqar Ahmed, a character of authority whose demeanor exudes power and sophistication. The upcoming historical drama series will immerse viewers in an era dominated by courtesans who wielded power akin to monarchs. Set against the backdrop of the Indian Independence struggle in the 1940s, the series delves into the cultural milieu of HeeraMandi through the intertwined narratives of courtesans and their patrons. Scheduled for release on May 1.
