Fatal Accident: Karnataka Native Falls from Moving Train, Dies

Date : 24-04-2024

Late Monday, tragedy struck as a 38-year-old man from Karnataka lost his life after falling off a running suburban train. The incident occurred while the train was crossing the old Pune highway overbridge, with the man plummeting nearly 50 feet onto the road between Mumbra and Kalwa.

Officials provided details, indicating that the victim, an employee of a prominent tyre manufacturing company in Mumbai, was commuting on the footboard of a Thane-bound local train when he lost his grip and fell. Initial investigations suggest that he first landed on the railway bridge before slipping through a gap onto the highway below.

He resided in Thakurli and worked in Mumbai, likely en route to a night shift when the tragic mishap unfolded. Despite swift efforts by rescue teams, the man succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital. Railway activist Siddhesh Desai attributed such incidents to overcrowding along the Kalwa-Mumbra stretch and urged authorities to devise solutions to address this safety concern.
