Yavatmal: Shortly after losing consciousness during a Lok Sabha election rally in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari reassured concerned followers on the social media platform X that he had fainted due to the intense heat but was now feeling better.

“I experienced discomfort due to the heat while addressing the rally in Pusad, Maharashtra. However, I have fully recovered and am on my way to Varud for the next meeting. Thank you for your support and well-wishes,” he conveyed on X.

Reports and footage indicate that the incumbent MP from Nagpur suddenly began to feel lightheaded while delivering his speech in Yavatmal’s Pusad, leading to his collapse. Prompt action from his party workers ensued as they splashed water and promptly escorted him from the stage to seek medical assistance. Gadkari is presently undergoing treatment.

During the incident, Gadkari was campaigning for Rajashree Patil, the BJP-Mahayuti candidate for the Yavatmal-Washim Lok Sabha constituency, representing Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena.

Yavatmal is scheduled to vote in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 26, alongside other constituencies in Maharashtra such as Akola, Buldhana, Amravati, Wardha, Nanded, Hingoli, and Parbhani. Situated in Vidarbha, the region has been grappling with intense heatwave conditions, prompting the Meteorological Office to issue a heatwave alert for various parts of Maharashtra from April 27 to 29.
