Kharge Writes to Modi Says Ready to Explain Nyay Patra

Date : 25-04-2024

New Delhi: Following comments by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Congress manifesto, Mallikarjun Kharge, the party chief, has penned a letter to him, expressing his willingness to personally clarify their Nyay Patra.

In a full-fledged assault on the main Opposition party, the Prime Minister has alleged that the Congress harbors a wealth redistribution agenda, which it intends to implement upon assuming power. According to him, this purported plan entails confiscating and redistributing private property, including homes and jewelry, with even mangalsutras not being exempt.

The Prime Minister first aired these accusations at a rally in Rajasthan’s Banswara on Sunday, further alleging that during the Congress’s tenure under Dr. Manmohan Singh, it had proclaimed that Muslims have the first right to the country’s wealth. He suggested that this implies diverting property to individuals with more children and infiltrators.

The Congress has refuted these claims, asserting that their manifesto merely advocates for a nationwide socio-economic and caste census. Nonetheless, the Prime Minister has persistently reiterated his allegations at subsequent rallies.

In response, Mallikarjun Kharge’s letter to the Prime Minister rebukes his rhetoric, characterizing it as uninformed and predictable. Kharge accuses the Modi government of prioritizing corporate interests over those of the common people, exemplified by reduced taxes for corporates mixed with higher taxes for the salaried class. He also criticizes the government’s indifference towards the plight of poor and marginalized women, alleging a failure to address atrocities and safeguard their rights.

The letter further admonishes the Prime Minister for exploiting isolated statements to sow communal discord, and urges him to refrain from succumbing to the applause of his supporters. Kharge concludes by inviting Modi to a personal discussion to clarify their Nyay Patra, in hopes of dispelling any misinformation.
