Mumbai: A 22-year-old man allegedly killed a watchman in Sanpada, Navi Mumbai, in the early hours of Friday. The assailant, identified as Mohammad Adil Azamali Sheikh, reportedly struck the 53-year-old watchman, Prasad Bhanusingh Khadka, with a large stone after the latter refused to provide him with a matchstick. The incident occurred at a rickshaw stand on Belapur Road around 1:45 am.

Trivial Matchstick Request Turns Fatal

The sequence of events unfolded when Sheikh, a resident of Turbhe Naka, requested a matchstick from Khadka while passing by the rickshaw stand. However, when the watchman declined the seemingly innocuous request, Sheikh became infuriated. In a fit of rage, he picked up a substantial stone and struck Khadka on the head, resulting in immediate and tragic fatality. The lifeless body of the watchman was sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.

Arrest and Legal Action

The police promptly arrested Mohammad Adil Azamali Sheikh following the incident. A case has been registered against him under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The motive behind the brutal attack highlights the severity of the consequences that can arise from seemingly trivial altercations.

Thane Teen Stabbed to Death: A Continuation of Brutal Crimes

In a separate but equally distressing incident in Thane, a 16-year-old boy fell victim to a fatal stabbing by two teenagers, Aayush Jha and Manoj Tope, both aged 19 and residents of Kamatghar locality in Bhiwandi. The victim had been missing since November 25, prompting his mother to lodge a missing complaint on November 28. Police investigations revealed a history of criminal cases involving all three teenagers and an ongoing dispute between the victim and the two accused. Aayush Jha and Manoj Tope were arrested and charged with murder on Friday. The incident underscores the concerning trend of violence among young individuals and the imperative need for preventive measures and community intervention to address such issues.
