Nature and children have a unique and different bonding. Children learn a lot of things when they are involved with nature. The unstructured environment of nature improves their creativity and also reduces stress and fatigue. It has positive simulations where they learn many things without a teacher.

However, the sad reality is our environment today is being slowly polluted and known fact is that human activities have made it worst. We have been repeating the same old activities which are harmful to our environment and unconsciously our children are also involved which is detrimental to them and their future. One more pestering factor is indoor screening time is more than outdoor activities. Children disconnect themselves from nature due to electronic gadgets. However, this generation needs to be reminded about environmental issues and the measures to protect it without raising anxiety in them.

Therefore how one can protect their environment and implement different ways to inculcate in day-today activities need to be understood.

Let them observe nature and identify recycle and reusable materials

Before children could take any measures, let them identify things around them. For instance, carrying own water bottle for every outing instead of buying water bottles from the shop is a way to reduce as well as reuse the plastic. When these kinds of repeated actions are noticed by them, it is easy for you to explain the consequences of doing or not doing something for the environment.

Compost the waste

When you peel off the banana or orange or take away the withered flower garland, let them be aware that this can be used to make compost. You can always take one step ahead by not just telling them to put it in the dustbin but keep it separate and prepare organic manure by it and use it in your garden.

Get wealth out of waste

When there is an exhibition or talent’s day at school, encourage your children to prepare projects using waste/used items. Children would love to prepare a newspaper pen stand or cardboard bullock. It’s just fun and enhances creativity in them.

Celebrate Eco-friendly birthday parties

Birthdays are the most exciting thing for children. Even parents plan it in a different way. This is the best event to make children aware of how much harmful the things they use, such as plastic gift wrappers or plastic plates are to the environment. The use of eco-friendly materials and understanding of the benefits would be always appreciable.

Protect animals and birds

Children have different bonding with animals and birds. Just like us, even animals feel hungry, or thirsty. During summers they have scarcity for both. Making children prepare bird feeders or keeping the water to drink can be taught to them.

Use of public transport often, shopping in bulk so that less packaging can be used or not wasting the food can also be implemented. These changes initially should begin with parents, obviously, children will gradually follow and make sure it becomes one of their habits to continue for the rest of their life.
