Mangaluru: The Ninth episode of News Karnataka’s definitive HR talk show, People@Work on the topic, ‘Artificial Intelligence – Uncluttered’ was held on Sunday January 2.
Ramesh Ranjan, Editor and Founder of HumanEngineers.com, a popular HR website that deals with managing the people side of the business hosted the event.
Special guest of the event was Harish Shetty, Group Manager, Advance Analytics & AI at IBM, who spoke on Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Uncluttered.
Defining ‘What Artificial Intelligence’ is he said, Machines performing the human doing cognitive task is Artificial Intelligence.
In the session, he gave the insight on essentials required to build AI system. He also emphasied on the difference between rule-based system and AI system.
As his personal view, he said ‘it is better for a data scientist or any one in tech. field to be a good coder in today’s changing world. He also shed light on Edge AI and pointed out the Rule of Thumb saying, If a human can do a task accurately, then we can train AI to do it too.
Answering the host’s question on the threat on data privacy he expressed, “Forget the usage of data, where you store the user data too is a matter of concern. It indeed is a valid threat and breaches our privacy in several cases. As a closing note he said, Artificial intelligence taking over the world, is still a science fiction.
Wishing the ethical usage of AI by industries and hoping human-friendly policies by the government on AI, Ramesh Ranjan signed off.
