Sarvotham Shetty graces as first guest of ‘Sunday Celebrity’ show

First Episode of ‘Sunday Celebrity’ was held on Sunday January 2. Sarvotham Shetty was the first Sunday celebrity and also an introductory guest. Spearhead Media Group Mentor and Advisor CA Valerian Dalmaida was present.

Kannadigas are working abroad in order to earn for their livelihood and are involved in various activities. There are Kannadigas who have made their presence felt through their art, linguistic and cultural works. In order to recognise and introduce such celebrities, NewsKarnataka have initiated the programme, Sunday Celebrity.

Kiran Nirkan hosted the programme and welcomed the guests.

Valerian Dalmaida gave the introductory note and detailed the ‘crawl to shine ‘ journey of NewsKarnataka. Kiran Nirkan introduced the guest.

Sarvotham Shetty was the Founder President of Kala Jagattu in 1979, First Kannada President of India Social Centre ( ISC- Abu Dhabi). Founder Vice-President of Toast- Master International Club, Abu Dhabi chapter, Board of governors for Abu Dhabi Indian High School and Chairman for Sports Division, Initiator of Throwball Tournament for all Kannadigas, President, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, and so on.

Sarvotham Shetty in his inaugural talk said, News Karnataka is not just doing good work but sound work. He also appreciated the team for its efforts in the success of Vishwa Tulu Sammelana that happened in 2018. And also Congratulated team News Karnataka for its ‘Chanakaya Media House of the Year 2021’ award.

Answering the host’s question on his memorable cultural life, Sarvotham Shetty said, “Back then when I joined my degree college, I was actively involved in extra-curricular activities like drama, folk dance, weight lifting and so on. Back in 1978 the drama which I had directed and acted in, received four awards. And so my interest in this field of cultural programmes sprouted during my college days. Post college in 1979, I began an institute ‘Kala Jagattu’ in order to facilitate a platform for Kannadigas,” he added.

He also expressed his pride and and joy to say that, four of the organisations established by him are now on its verge of celebrating silver jubliee.

Answering certain quick questions he said, Sarvo and Uttam are his nicknames, Korirotti is his favorite food and currently WhatsApp and Facebook have become his favourite hobbies.

Sarvotham Shetty said that, receiving Rajyotsava award in 1998 without applying for it or seeking recommendation for it, is one among the best memories. For him the best way to get out of moody blues is taking out his car towards seashore and contemplating calmly the solution for the problem that has emerged.

He chose friends over family stating that I have my family with me but good friends are even rare to find. Further, he wished to continue his social work post retirement.

As a message to the viewers he said, “Don’t belittle yourself for your failures as with failures come success. Have a goal and surely you will reach there one day.”

Kiran Nirkan wished goodness and prosperity to all in the new year and ended the session.
