India is basically an agri-based country. However, the impact of urbanisation has been significant as far as even rural society is concerned. This has made new generation unaware of our roots, culture, tradition, lifestyle, and as an attempt to introduce glorious past Utsav Rock Garden has been established.

Situated 40 km away from North Karnataka trade Capital Hubballi, the garden was built drawing it’s inspiration from Chandigarh Rock Garden and can be visited throughout the year. Utsav Rock Garden designed by architect Dr.T.B.Solabakkanavar showcases the culture and lifestyle of North Karnataka. The cultural attraction is situated in Gotagodi, Shiggaon, Haveri District, the native place of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. As the word ‘Utsav” itself means celebration, the place is beautiful blend of modern and traditional art and architecture. The Garden that imparts knowledge to children about our culture has won 8 awards for itself including the Rajyotsava award.

This garden has more than 1000 sculptures built on cement rocks which seems real. The place attracts both layman and art lovers equally. An entry into the Garden, the visitors are transported into 18th or 19th century. Apart from sculptures that showcase our history and culture, there are also sculptures of Kannada matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar’s films. Sculpture reflecting his first film Bedara Kannappa, and other films such as Mayor Muttanna, Huli Halina Mevu, Satya Harischandra, and Sanadi Appanna stand tall here. To attract children, the adventures games are in place.

One of the many beautiful places in the Garden is a marriage hall replica. The indoors of the hall is decorated such that the visitors get a feel that an actual marriage is taking place. There is also cow shed wherein different breeds of cows in its actual size are designed giving us feeling of them being real. The tourists can also enjoy bullock cart ride and horse riding at the garden. A restaurant at the vicinity serves authentic North Karnataka cuisines such as jolada rotti, sabjin etc., thus making it a hit among the tourists.

The other places of interest around Garden are Agadi Farm House, Bada, a birthplace of Kanakadasa, Attiveri Bird Sanctuary. Also claimed to be the world’s first folklore university is just beside the garden.
