Mangaluru: Rtn Rohinath Pade, fondly called Rohi, passed away on Monday April 11. He hails from a small village called Tenkakajekar in Bantwal Taluk.

Rohinath founded Premier Security Services (PSS), a sole proprietorship security services firm in 1992. It has become a trusted name in security and one which went on to have more than 1000 employees within a record time.

He had the ambition to make education reach the doorstep of the children of his village and he went on to live his dream of building an educational enterprise in his native place. He turned it from a basic school to a full-fledged college with pre-university and undergraduate studies. He also established a CBSE syllabus there. All of these institutions bear the name of his father, Lingappa Master, in whose honour he created them.

Rtn. Sumith Rao, a close friend of Rohinath said, “Rohinath obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Science from SDM College, Ujire and had an illustrious career rising like a phoenix to achieve great heights in life and then suddenly left us like a meteor and left for his heavenly abode after a brief illness. He has led an active, enterprising, philanthropic 62 and odd years living with values of Service Above Self.”

Rohinath also rose through the ranks of Rotary, becoming President of the Rotary Club of Mangalore North, Assistant Governor, and finally Governor of Rotary International District 3181. “During his year as Governor, he conducted a Grand District Conference in Grand Bay near Bajpe, and he was a Major Donor to The Rotary Foundation,” said Rao.

He was instrumental in forming a Flood Relief Trust to help the flood victims of the Kodagu District in 2018.

He has been the founder member of Karnataka State Security Services Association, Bengaluru, Life Member of Dakshina Kannada Cricket Association, Eden Aquatic Sports Foundation, Life Member of Officer’s Club, Mangaluru, Life Member of Cosmopolitan Club, Mangaluru, President of Shri Krishna Temple Renovation Committee, Bantwal and many other organisations.

His dream project, Asha Spoorthi, which facilitated the upgradation of Anganwadis throughout the District, garnered great praise from civic and state agencies and was acknowledged as one of Rotary International’s most unique projects. At a cost of Rs.1.3 Crore, the project provided 520 Anganwadis with basic amenities such as clean drinking water, sanitation, school support and handwashing facilities.

Rohinath was awarded ‘Certificate of Excellence’ by Infosys, Mangaluru in 2015 and Swathik Friend’s Club, Punjalkatte awarded him the State-level ‘Swasthishree Award.’

He is survived by his wife Babitha Rohinath and two daughters, Shivani and Jayani.
