
MP Brijesh Chowta Pushes for New Spur Roads to Boost Temple Tourism
Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi, advocating for the construction of spur roads connecting Periyashanthi-Paichar and Guruvayanakere-Bajagoli. These new routes aim to enhance pilgrim access to prominent temples like Kukke Subrahmanya, Dharmasthala, and Kollur.
Proposed Road Developments
🔹 Periyashanthi-Paichar Road (Connecting NH-75 & NH-275)

Would create a direct link between the two highways.

Pilgrims traveling from Bengaluru & Kerala to Kukke Subrahmanya and Dharmasthala would have a faster, smoother route.
🔹 Guruvayanakere-Bajagoli Road (Connecting NH-73 & NH-169)

Would reduce travel time to Dharmasthala & Sri Mookambika Temple.

Helps ease congestion on existing highways, boosting tourism and local economy.
Infrastructure & Tourism Benefits
Capt Chowta emphasized that these roads would:
✅ Strengthen temple tourism in Dakshina Kannada.
✅ Provide alternate travel routes, reducing traffic & environmental impact.
✅ Improve connectivity and economic growth in the region.
Government Response
Minister Gadkari assured that the proposals would be assessed for feasibility. Capt Chowta expressed optimism that these infrastructure projects would align with PM Modi’s vision for a developed India.
