Mysuru: Alleging that there has been a misuse of the funds sanctioned for the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), Member of Parliament from the Mysuru-Kodagu constituency Pratap Simha urged the district Deputy Commissioner to ensure that funds released by Centre to the civic body be utilized only for necessary works.

In a letter to DC B Sharat, the MP wrote that the Union government released Rs 69.39 crores under 15th Finance Commission and the MCC still has Rs 9.30 crores pending from the funds sanctioned under the 14th Finance Commission.

Simha advised that 50 per cent of the funds, i.e. Rs 34.70 crores, sanctioned under the 15th Finance Commission and the pending Rs 9.30 crores, be used after a discussion with the respective district in-charge minister, MLAs and MPs.

In his letter, the MP also accused the former mayors, standing committee presidents, and political party leaders of misusing the funds.
