Mysuru: Prashanth Kumar Mishra, the Mysuru Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer who allegedly abetted the suicide of Nanjangud Taluk Health Officer in-charge Dr S R Nagendra, was on Saturday, transferred by the Karnataka Government.

Until further orders are issued, district Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar will hold the CEO post.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered against Mishra in connection with Nagendra’s suicide on August 20.

Doctors in the city had held a protest demanding that action be taken against Mishra under Section 306 of the IPC. They claimed that the case was registered after Nagendra’s father, who accused Mishra of setting additional targets for his son, who was doing additional COVID-19 related work since January.

The father also accused Mishra of threatening to book Nagendra under the National Disaster Management Act if he did not meet the target. The pressure from the CEO led Nagendra to suicide, the latter’s father claimed.
