Mysuru: Even as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s diamond-studded Hublot left him in eye of storm, he must be thankful that the silk saree costing Rs one lac, bought by him for his wife did not stir the hornet’s nest. Instead, the CM has made this saree so popular that there is a beeline at the Mysore Silks showrooms to purchase the same gold-zari bordered saree.

The CM had purchased a heavy gold zari silk saree for his wife Parvathi Siddaramaiah in Davangere recently after inaugurating a Mysore Silk Showroom. During the occasion, he had purchased a saree worth Rs 1,09,885 for his wife.

Though the news did not create ripples, Mysore Silk is surely benefiting a lot from the same. As per sources, heavy bookings are being done for the same saree across 17 showrooms of Mysore Silks in the state and others parts of the country.

The highlight of the saree is that it has 750 gms of gold zari in it. The Mysore Silk is struggling to meet the demand because only one of this intricately woven saree can be produced per day.

Further, the Mysore Silk has been producing the saree only during the wedding season. While about 20 sarees are being produced per month, almost 16 of this saree is being sold per month and the sales are only shooting up.
