SCW chief stresses on woman empowerment during colorful rally

Mysuru: The city of Mysuru which witnessed innumerable protests on Cauvery issue by farmer and pro-Kannada organisations witnessed a rally of different kind on Monday, October 3.

The colourful rally led by state Karnataka state commission for women president Manjula Manasa in which Mysuru DC D Randeep took part drew a large number of women taking to streets with lot of enthusiasm. Women dressed in Royal attire to match the ongoing Dasara festivities took active part in the campaign to create awareness to fight against atrocities on them and children.

Addressing the gathering, Manjula Manasa said woman progressed a lot in the recent past and are in par with men in many sectors. She stressed on the need to remain united and fight against atrocities without losing confidence.She expressed happiness as the rally coincided with Dasara festivities in the city and appreciated many achievers in the crowd who participated in the rally. She sounded confident that the Cauvery issue will blow over soon so that people in the state can celebrate Dasara happily.

Deputy Commissioner D Randeep who spoke on the occasion said that the rally is organised to create awareness on women empowerment. “Women are leading in almost every field. Women are emerging toppers in SSLC, PUC, KAS and IAS exams too. We need to encourage them and help them reach their goals,” added Randeep.

The rally started from the Palace premises, passed through KR Circle, Sayaji Rao Road, Government Ayurvedic College Circle and culminated at JK grounds. Hundreds of women including police, lawyers, nurses, NCC students, members of various self-help organizations, anganwadi teachers, and home guards participated in the rally.
