Mysuru: Travelling in Mysuru-Varanasi Bi-Weekly express train will be more comfortable from now on as the conventional coaches have been replaced with Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) rake. The specialty of LHB coaches which are designed on German technology will have inbuilt safety and comfort features that are comparable to world class standards.
South Western Railway, Mysuru Division has replaced one conventional rake of Mysuru-Varanasi Bi-Weekly rake with LHB rake with effect from April 18. The train commencing journey on every Thursday from Mysuru and every Saturday from Varanasi will now run with LHB coaches. Replacement of second rake will be notified shortly.
These coaches are safer and proven to have a smooth riding comfort even at high speeds with improved suspension system and also features wide windows as an added advantage. The LHB coaches are fitted with microprocessor controlled high capacity air conditioning system which gives passengers better comforts during summer and winter season. The coaches have anti-telescopic and anti-climbing feature which lead to zero fatality in case of derailment or collision. The disc brake system of LHB coaches is superior to that of conventionally used brake system.
Apart from the above, as part of precautionary measures all the coaches are also fitted with fire extinguisher. Even the windows in LHB coaches can be opened easily as there are sliding facilities installed which makes it very easy to operate the windows. The washrooms are also redesigned. With all these features, LHB coaches look more comfortable than the traditional coaches.
The Ministry of Railways aims to replace all the old conventional coaches with LHB coaches over the next few years.
