Mysuru: In a tragic accident, a youth named Rakesh (24), resident of Hudco Layout of Kuvempunagar, accidentally fell into the Varuna Canal and was washed away.
According to reports, Rakesh had come along with his friends to the canal at 11 PM yesterday, and was sitting on the wall of the canal while chatting with his friends. During this time, he is said to have lost balance and fallen into the water, eventually being washed away due to the rapid water flow.
Even though his friends tried to rescue him, they failed in their attempts due to the rapidly flowing water of the canal.
A case has been filed in K R Nagar Police Station and search operations are currently being undertaken.
