B G Krishnamurthy, a key Naxal leader in Karnataka, was presented before the Sringeri court in Chikkamagaluru on Thursday. Arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) at the Karnataka-Kerala border in November 2023, he faces nearly 60 charges across both states.
Krishnamurthy, currently lodged in Viyyur Central Prison, Thrissur, was brought under high security for a case involving an attack on a villager’s house. He has been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Arms Act, and the Explosive Substances Act.
A native of Bukadibail, Sringeri taluk, Krishnamurthy allegedly assumed leadership of the Naxal movement in Karnataka after Saketh Rajan’s demise.
