‘Alertness while on job must for a mediaperson’

Mangaluru: Thank You Karnataka is a series of programmes organised to celebrate decennial year of NewsKarnataka and thus thank Kannadigas all over the globe for supporting the Spearhead Media Group to achieve this milestone.

One of the programmes under Thank You Karnataka series is the Womenia, a show that promotes women of impact, entrepreneurs and achievers that is aired every Thursday.

The guest of the ninth episode aired on Thursday December 1 is Akshatha Girish Aithal, Journalist. The anchor person for the programme is Ananya Hegde.

The programme was premiered on NewsKarnataka.com’s YouTube Channel.

Akshatha Girish Aithal expressed, “Each step in life is a new journey towards exploration and lessons. Exploring the condition of tribal kids was a hard hit for me. From them I decided to initiate the facilities to my kids in such a way, that they earn it with their efforts, she said.

Sharing her experience in the field of media she opined, “It is one such field where coming back is difficult. Media will always attract the person towards it. Like challenges in any other field, media is no exception. Updating self and being alert are two important concept every media person should possess, she said.

Speaking on balancing the family and work life she shared, “My husband is the reason for the heights I have reached in the media field. My mother-in-law too was supportive in raising my kid and posed no objection even at my late night duty hours. Pre-marriage if my parents had barred me from working in the field, then it might have been the end of my career, she said stating them to be her supportive systems too.

As an advise to the audience she addressed women and said, “If a women has to be financially and emotionally independent then it should come from within. Do not expect others to empower you. And women working in the society is a mirror that reflects,” she expressed.
