Mangaluru: Thank You Karnataka is a series of programmes organised to celebrate decennial year of NewsKarnataka and thus thank Kannadigas all over the globe for supporting the Spearhead Media Group to achieve this milestone.

One of the programme under Thank You Karnataka series is Arogya Manthana, a show on health which is aired every Monday.

The guest of the fifth episode, aired on October 10 is Dr. P. Manohara Upadhya, BVSc, Veterinary Practitioner, Maroli, Mangalore Veterinary Service Centre. The anchor person for the programme is Dr. Anuradha K. C. of Kakunje Ayurvedic Wellness Clinic, Moodabidri.

The programme was premiered on NewsKarnataka.com’s YouTube channel.

Dr. P. Monohara Upadhya said, Desi dog and cat breeds are no less in beauty, responsibility or in being active. The animals with more fur find it difficult to adopt to our tropical climate in comparison to our local breeds.

Dr. Upadhya also stressed to not separate the animal babies from its mother atleast for three months as the feeding period will enhance the immunity within the baby and also learn certain sensitive life habits from mother.

He also shared information on animal food habits to be followed and the zoonotic disease and called cats to be spiritual animals. In his opinion, cats have close connection with nature and they possess healing power.

Doctor also cautioned on the usage of chemicals, pesticides and fragrance products in and around animals as they are more sensitive to such products and added that it may also lead to kidney and liver diseases.

Having animals at home is an opportunity to learn. Mingling with them reduces the day to day stress in life and gives happiness. It is an experience of co-existence and may every one get the experience, he wished.

Dr. Anuradha K. C expressing gratitude signed off.
