‘Women’s health has to be given significance’

Mangaluru: Thank You Karnataka is a series of programmes organised to celebrate the decennial year of NewsKarnataka and thus thank Kannadigas all over the globe for supporting the Spearhead Media Group to achieve this milestone.

One of the programmes under Thank You Karnataka series is Arogya Manthana, a show on health which is aired every Monday.

The guest of the eleventh episode aired on Monday January 2 is Dr. Vidyashri Kamath, MBBS, MS (OBGY) FAMS, Consultant, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, KMC Hospital, Mangalore. The anchor person for the programme is Dr. Anuradha K. C. of Kakunje Ayurvedic Wellness Clinic, Moodabidri.

The programme was premiered on NewsKarnataka.com’s YouTube Channel.

Dr. Vidyashri Kamath shed light on PCOS which was earlier called PCOD. She called it to be a lifestyle cum genetic disorder.

Doctor said that the patients with PCOS are prone to insulin resistance and on the other hand, the male harmone testosterone will be more in such patients. Weight loss and carbo hydrate free diet is the best treatment,” said Dr. Vidyashri Kamath.

Sharing the causes, effects and the treatment for PCOS Dr. Vidyashri Kamath spoke on her inspiration for opting the field. “It was my aunt and her husband, the respect they received being in the field which attracted me as a kid,” she said. “Post my ranking in entrance I had even given thought on taking up engineering but then my parents enlightened me with the service aspect involved in the field along my own interest, and then I didn’t look back,” she added.

Dr. Vidyashri Kamath advised, “Women’s health has to be given greater significance.” She said women to love one self which will lead to the happiness on an entire society.
