Some learn music as a hobby, while others learn the art out of sheer passion and interest. In most cases, people specialize in any one field of music and try to excel in the same. It requires years of hard work and continuous practice to be a successful instrumentalist. This being the case, to know that a 19 year old youth from Mangalore named Dafnal has mastered as many as 28 musical instruments, reveals the tremendous talent in the youngster.
Dafnal, a BBM student at St Aloysius College in Mangalore, effortlessly plays Tabla and drums. Dafnal who laid his hands on the keyboard when he was just ten, can now handle as many as 28 musical instruments including Tabla, Kongo, Violin, Jalatarang, Dholak, Guitar, Keyboard, flute, Gummat, Tumba, Mridangam and Trumpet among others.
He is not just an instrumentalist, but also has his own musical band named “Exotica”. The band has presented several shows and Dafnal has been assisting the band on the drums and Tabla. Noteworthy is the fact that his band gave his first show as part of a Konkani programme organised in aid of the families which were bereaved in the Mangalore air crash.
Dafnal has also founded an event management company and is considered one of the youngest entrepreneurs of the region.”Music is my passion,event management a craze,” describes Dafnal. This young talent is contributing in his own way to bring out the innate talent in youngsters by organizing programmes in various colleges in Mangalore.
When asked how he ventured into business at such a young age, Dafnal says his association with his fathers waste paper management factory at Derebail exposed him to the nuances of business. “I have the patronage of my family, but none of my family members are part of my business,” he says.
“I want to achieve much more in the field of music and aspire to give exposure to the talents in youngsters through my Event Management Company,” says a confident Dafnal.
