Dubai: Costal Friends UAE beat Mangalore Konkans Dubai in the Men’s Throwball final and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha beat Mangalore Konkans Dubai in the Ladies Throwball final and walked away with the 5th ISC-Arab Udupi Throwball trophies on October 28.
The dignitaries present during the occasion included President of Indian Social and Cultural Centre Thomas Varghese; Sudhir Kumar Shetty, President, UAE Exchange Global; Shekar Babu Shetty, MD, Arab Udupi Group of Resturants and Dolphy Vas, President, KCO, Abu Dhabi. Member of organizing committee Ziad Kamarudheen, Office bearers of Indian Social and Cultural Centre and a huge number of throwball lovers were present to support their teams.
The exciting tournament was supported by Clevy Leo Rodrigues of Al Mazroui & Clevy Automobile LLC, Mohammed Akram of SGC Al Sitara Gulf Cont. & Gen. Maintenance, Sundar Shetty of Nihal Restaurant & Catering Services, Hariharan of Violett Real Estate, Jayaram Rai of Bin Fardan Group, Hilda D’Souza of Trionix Contracting & General Maintenance LLC, Haneef Mohamed of Star Light Gen. Maintenance & Cleaning Services, Sunil Hariani of Occasion Cakes and Mohammed Yunus of Finesse Interior Design.
Main Convener of the tournament and a veteran in the field, guiding and managing throwball tournaments for the last 25 plus years, Sarvotham Shetty conducted the proceedings of the tournament in a wonderful way throughout the day and was appreciated by all the participated teams.
Bunts Dubai, Mangalore Konkans Dubai, Mangalore United Warriors, Mogaveers UAE, Mangalore United Chargers, KCO Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Konkans Dubai and Costal Friends UAE took part in the ladies’ throwball matches. Bunts Dubai, Mangalore United Chargers, Konkans Dubai, Mangalore United Warriors, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, KCO Abu Dhabi, Mangalore Konkans Dubai and Costal Friends Dubai competed in the men’s throwball matches. All the teams participated in the whole day’s thrilling tournament at Abu Dhabi’s India Social and Cultural Centre. All the teams played the games in good sportsman spirit.
This is the first tournament of the season which will continue till end of January 2017 with different Karnataka based organisations organizing tournaments in different parts of UAE.
The results are as follows:
Costal Friends UAE beat Bunts Dubai by 21:11 points in the first men’s semifinal, while Mangalore Konkans Dubai beat Konkans Dubai by 21:19 points in the second men’s semifinal.
Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha beat Bunts Dubai by 21:18 points in the first ladies semifinal and Mangalore Konkans Dubai beat Konkans Dubai by 21:15 points in the second ladies semifinal.
Costal Friends UAE (15/13/15) beat Mangalore Konkans Dubai (11/15/8) in the men’s final.
Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha (15/14/15) beat Mangalore Konkans Dubai (13/15/12) in the ladies final.
Individual prizes were also awarded to the best performers.
