Abu Dhabi: UAE’s Kannada based organization Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha celebrated the 35th Karnataka Rajyotsava in a grand manner and conferred its prestigious Da Ra Bendre award to famous artist Ganesh Rai considering his priceless service towards art and its forms on Friday, November 4.
Patron of Kannada programs at UAE Padmashri Dr. BR Shetty was the president of the celebration. The function was inaugurated by Dr. BR Shetty and members of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha by lighting the traditional lamp.
The main attraction of the event was the presentation of Da Ra Bendre award to famous Artist and creative art director Ganesh Rai. Dr BR Shetty conferred the award to Ganesh Rai with Shekhar Shetty of Arab Udupi hotels and members of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha.
Addressing the gathering after receiving the honor, Ganesh Rai expressed his happiness for choosing him for this prestigious award. He also thanked Dr. Shetty for his blessings and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha president Sarvottam Shetty for his guidance.
Talented children and merit students who performed outstandingly in their academic career were honored by Dr BR Shetty and Dr. Chandrakumari BR Shetty.
Nine groups of talented singers performed their singing talents at the UAE level open to all group singing competition which was arranged as a part of the celebration. The performance of the singers received applause from audience.
As a part of the celebration, many Kannada folk dances, mythological theme based dance presentations, songs and performances were presented. The sponsors and the supporters of the program were honored by Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha. The program was compered by guest anchor Avinash and assisted by Sarvottam Shetty.
