Dubai: As the Gulf Premier League 2015 fever grips Dubai, 8 teams have already started gearing up for the coveted tournament. It is expected that top cricket players of hard tennis ball cricket are all set to entertain the cricket loving enthusiasts of the region. Most of the teams will have some of the internationally renowned cricket players. To add to the entertainment, popular cricket and Bollywood stars will be part of the two day first of his kind cricket tournament which is a landmark event in the history of hard tennis ball cricket. The venue of the tournament will be the already popular ICC Cricket Academy Grounds in Dubai Sports City.
During a recently held get together of the team owners held at the Majalis of GPL 2015 Chairman Shaikh Md. Sharief, Owners and Captains of all the 8 teams participated. The meeting was graced by the presence of the Chairman of Al Muzain Group KSA and the Title Sponsor of the tournament Mr. Bajpe Zakaria. He expressed his happiness over the organising of such a tournament and assured his full support to the event which is a masterpiece event of cricketing history. He wished all the teams good luck and requested all the teams to adhere to the rules and regulations laid by the organisers and to play with sportsmanship spirit.
GPL 2015 President Sadiuq Kaup welcomed the gathering. GPL 2015 executive committee member Md. Shabir explained the rules and regulations to the team owners. GPL 2015 Organisers Canute Kelarai, K. Md. Niyaz Farangipete, Imran, Firoz were present. During the meeting the fixtures for the tournament were drawn. The teams in Pool A are Al Muzain Royal Synergy – Saudi Arabia East, SBK International – Qatar, Nafis Hurricanes – Abu Dhabi, Northen Shine – Dubai South and Pool B teams are Kuwait Raiders – Kuwait, Amaco Warriors – Saudi Arabia West, Khushi Super Kings – Dubai North, Royal Hawks – Sharjah.
There will be 7 Indian players in each team and the other 4 players can be from other nationalities. The league matches will be played on 15th October 2015 at two grounds were in each team from Pool A and Pool B will play 3 matches of 10 overs each within their pools to qualify for the Semi-finals. Semi-finals will be a knockout round of two matches and 15 overs, wherein 4 qualified teams of both the pools will clash against teams from the opposite pools to get entry to the finals.
The finals will have 20 overs each and will be played between the winners of both the semi-final matches the organisers enounced. The winners will get a cash prize and a special trophy designed for the tournament, while the runners-up team too will get a cash prize and trophy. Best batsmen of the tournament, Best bowler of the tournament, Man of the Match for Finals, Man of the Series and Highest Sixers in the tournament also will be awarded.
The orgranizers said that a lot of fun, music and excitement, and games will be part of the event and the organisers have requested all cricket loving people of the region to be part of the event.
