IOC Bahrain extends condolences on the passing away of the Prime Minister of Bahrain

Manama: IOC Executive Team headed by Mr Mohammed Mansoor, President of IOC, extended their heartfelt condolences to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the royal family on the sad demise of His Royal Highness and Prime Minister of Bahrain, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on Wednesday.

Since morning, Mr Mohammed Mansoor was approached by several leaders of the Indian National Office, headed by Mr Rahul Gandhi, to express their condolences to the royal family. Mr Mohammed Mansoor was also the first to express his grief on Twitter on the passing of the royal prince.

Mr Sam Pitroda, IOC Chairman, expressed his sorrow and condolences to the King, and the royal family. He recalled his last visit as a State guest; where both of them had the opportunity to discuss in-detail bilateral ties. They also shared their mutual interests which had the potential to benefit both the countries in the field of sports, arts, and culture.

The two countries have maintained a very cordial relationship been very hospitable in terms of policies, and economic and cultural exchanges. Bahrain and India have had a very close bond since its inception and is home to more than 350,000 Indian expatriates.
