Konkani dramas by Vamanjooreans captivate the UAE crowd

Dubai: The Vamanjooreans at UAE staged two super hit dramas named ‘Kazarachi Dhotorne’ and ‘Chintnen, Sobdhan ani Karnen’ on Friday May 30, at Sheik Rashid auditorium.

‘Kazarachi Dhotorne’ was a fun play that tickled the senses of the audience, while ‘Chintnen, Sobdhan ani Karnen’, the award-winning written by renowned playwright, the late MickMax focused on the serious social issues.

The drams were showcased after a valedictory programme. After a prayer song, the dignitaries on the dais, namely Vamanjooreans UAE president Johnson Monteiro, main sponsor Jerald and Roopa Lobo Vamanjoor, sponsor Lawrence Mendonca, actor Roshan M Kamath, and MickMax’s brother Edwin D’Souza lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the inauguration of the event along Roshan D’Silva.

A two-minute silence was observed prior to the staging of the first drama ‘Kazarachi Dhotorne’ in memory of the late M P D’Sa who wrote the play.
 
‘Kazarachi Dhotorne’ directed by Stephen Menezes, and enacted by Jochim D’Souza, Stephen Menezes, Richard Saldanha and Godwin Castelino and others evoked laughter among the audience. The drama was performed by UAE-based artistes namely. The music was provided by Melroy D’Cunha and Vincent Fernandes Cascia.
 
Prior to the staging of the second drama ‘Chintnen Sobdhan ani Karnen’ a two-minute silence was observed in memory of the late MickMax who wrote the drama.

The award winning social drama was performed by well-known actors from Vamanjoor namely Denis Monteiro, who also directed the drama, Jerald Monteiro Mangalore, Sapna Crasta Assuntha Pais, Roshan M Kamath, Mario Roche and Denzil Fernandes.

The drama highlighted the way modern lifestyle keeps people busy and affects bonding, leading to unfounded doubts and misunderstandings, however it also had a humorous side to it.

Vamanjoor’s young music director and singer Royston Pinto provided the background music for the drama.
 
After the drama, the artistes were honoured with mementoes.

During the interval between the two dramas, a brief stage programme was held wherein the CD of new Konkani album ‘Moga Naadh’ by Francis Rodrigues was released.

Addressing the gathering, Vamanjooreans UAE president Johnhson Monteiro appreciated and thanked the members of the association for their efforts in staging the twin dramas. Jerald Lobo, advisor Vamjooreans UAE and Johnson Monteiro were also honoured during the occasion.
