KSQ celebrates ‘Vasantotsava’ with musical extravaganza

Doha : Karnataka Sangha Qatar a frontline community in Qatar aegis to Embassy of India celebrated a change of spring festival ‘Vasantotsava’ here on Friday May 2, with cultural programs and musical extravaganza.

The renowned Kannada actor, comedian and Director sihi Kahi chandru was the chief guest and main attraction of the function. ‘Unplugged with Mayur’ fame 92.5 Big FM RJ Mayur, Singer Ajay warriar, Female singer Sinchana Dixit from Bangalore with their musical troupe enthralled the audience.

The program was begun with lighting of the Lamp by chief guest, Guest artistes and KSQ committee members.  The welcome dance on the theme of ‘Vasantotsava’ was performed by children. The welcome dance was choreographed by Dimple Nair and assisted by Shilpa Mannangi & Akshaya Shetty. 

KSQ president Deepak shetty welcomed and also thanked all the supporters as he completed one year as a president. He also recollected that on the day of ‘Akshaya Tritiya’ & ‘Basavanna Jayanti’ Kannadigas are happy to celebrate ‘Vasantotsava’ with gaiety.

Meanwhile Chief guest Sihi Kahi Chandru was honoured with shawl and a memento on behalf of KSQ. Following this Karnataka’s other communities like Billava Sangha Qatar, Bunts Sangha Qatar, MCC and KMCA also honoured sihi kahi chandru with memento and Gift.

RJ Mayur, Renowned Singer Ajay Warriar, female singer Sinchana Dixit enthralled the audience with Kannada & Hindi numbers. The well-known musicians from Karnataka like Adarsh Shenoy on tabla, Sandeep Vasista on flute, Venugopal on main keyboard, Ashwin Kumar on keyboard & organ, Manjunath N S on drums & Karthik on guitar supported the singers.

The famous composers of Sandalwood were remembered meantime, and RJ mayor dedicated each numbers to each great composers. ‘Battamiz Dil’ ‘Bin tere’ ‘I Love you’ ‘Noorondu Nenapu’ ‘Yaarivanu ee manmathanu’ ‘Omme Ninnannu’ ‘Jeeva Hoovagidhe’ ‘Mukhada Singari’ ‘Dum Maaro dum’ ‘Jaane Jaa’ and ‘Pankaja’ numbers entertained the crowd with wonderful renditions.

Sihi Kahi Chandru entertained the audience with his rib-tickling comedy of highest quality and shared his experience of finding laugh in each part of life.

Harsha Patil, daughter of Arvind Patil, former president of KSQ, was felicitated on the occasion for winning the best story award for her short film ‘Masoom’ at the North Western Film festival in Qatar. 

A very talented cultural secretary H.K.Madhu compered the programme. General secretary Mahesh Gowda proposed the vote of thanks.

Tulukoota President seetharam shetty, vice president Asmath Ali, Bunts Sangh Qatar president &philanthropist Ravi shetty, Billava sangha Qatar president Divakar Poojary, MCC vice president Prakash Saldanha and many other dignitaries, members of other Karnataka associations in Qatar were present on the occasion.

KSQ thanked all its supporters and sponsors for making the event a successful one.
 
The function concluded with dinner arranged by famous restaurant Sarvanaa Bhavan.
