Dubai: Inorder to spread awareness and extend support to breast cancer patients, hundreds of taxis clustered in at the Thumbay Hospital units across Dubai, Ajman and Fujairah to form a unique giant pink ribbon on Wednesday. 
The Pink Drive Campaign, which is being conducted across all Thumbay Hospitals (Dubai, Ajman, Fujairah and Sharjah) and Thumbay Clinics (Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain) in the UAE, carries the message of hope to all the survivors, aims to raise awareness on breast cancer that is the UAE’s second biggest killer of women after cardiovascular diseases. The campaign is supported by Cars Taxi, Dubai Police, Friends of Cancer Patients and Pink Caravan.
Speaking about the initiative, Thumbay Moideen, Founder President, Thumbay Group, said, “It’s our strong belief that Thumbay Group has a great social responsibility, and over the years we have acted accordingly by supporting social and humanitarian causes. Survival of breast cancer patients is increasing with each passing day due to the awareness created on the subject. Through this initiative, we are here to encourage women to get themselves screened, outline the importance of the mammogram, raise support for sufferers and make the nation fit.”
In addition, Akbar Moideen, Vice President, Healthcare Division at Thumbay Hospitals said, “We are coming up with new and innovative methods to reach out to women and make them pause and reflect on the threat and the possibility of developing breast cancer. We would like to thank all the women drivers, participating in this drive, for spreading the word on preventive measures.”
Abdulla Sultan Al Sabbagh, CEO of Cars Taxi Group was the chief guest at the event. Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Marzouq, Head of Safety Unit of Emirates Transport, Dubai, Captain Abdulaziz Hassan Al Shomarri, Traffic Department of Dubai Police, Jassim Mohammed Abdulla Al Ali, Head of Administrative Services Office, Primary Health Care Sector, Dubai Health Authority and others were present at the event.
