Abu Dhabi: The capital of United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi witnessed heavy thundershowers starting from early Monday morning. The rains coupled with thunderbolts continued on Tuesday as well.
Forecasters predict the weather will remain “unstable” throughout the week with temperatures hovering between 25? and 30? inland and between 23? to 27? along the coast.
The predictions last week spelt out clearly that Abu Dhabi may witness thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday due to low pressure adding that the region may be mostly cloudy with a shower or thunderstorm in scattered parts.
Thunderstorms forecast for the north and east of the UAE threaten to bring more flash floods this week, it is said increasing the possibility of flash flooding in Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Al Ain from Tuesday until Thursday as cumulus clouds start to develop across the mountains.
Forecasters are expecting rain and thunderstorms till Thursday in most parts of the country, specifically in the northeastern and eastern parts, due to unstable weather prevailing over the UAE.
The wet weather is a result of low pressure coming from the southwest that may bring more rain and thunderstorms in most parts of the UAE, specifically on the northeastern and eastern parts, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).
The Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea will be rough in general on Sunday with 5ft to 9ft waves expected offshore in the Arabian Gulf and 5ft to 8ft waves in Oman Sea.
