Roy Castelino to grace MCC Monthi Fest celebration

Doha: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino will grace this year’s MCC Monthi Fest celebration, Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) President Norbert Corda told the media here.
Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), a frontline community forum that unites Mangaloreans living in Qatar and has been nourishing Mangalorean traditions and culture among generation to generation. It is with this motto and with the intention of enhancing fraternal bonds among the Mangaloreans, MCC has been celebrating the feast of Nativity every year with the sharing of new corns, the first fruits of the nature through annual Novem Jevann.

MCC president Norbert Corda told the media that, the forum will be celebrating Monthi fest on Friday September 11 at 5.30 pm at the Al Jazeera Academy-Abu hamour. The highlight of the evening will be the sharing of the blessed corn and partaking in the home-cooked meal, as a family.

An eminent personality among the Manglorean community,  the President of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy (KKSA), Roy Castelino, will grace the event as chief guest. He is a head of Roy Construction group, and also been the president of Konkani Prachar Sanchalan and former president of Rachana. He is a trustee of Sandesha Foundation, and holds a post of director at Kalaangann, apart being an executive committee member of Mandd Sobhan. He is well known among the Mangalurean community for his selfless service and contribution towards Konkani literature.

Fr Anand Castelino, OFM, the spiritual director of Qatar Konkani speaking community will be the guest of honour on the occasion.

Norbert added that, on this great occasion MCC will also be felicitating outstanding members, students who have excelled in academics studies in 2014-2015, winners of talent competitions, and MCC throwball and kho-kho champions.

Norbert, through the media, extended a warm invitation to all the Mangalureans in Qatar to join the Monthi Fest celebration as one family.
