Sharjah: Famous organiser, community leader, patron of culture & language, and president of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha Sarvotham Shetty was conferred with UAE’s prestigious Mayura Global Kannadiga Award by Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, during their 15th anniversary and Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations.
Minister of Karnataka State Govt U T Khadar, priest of St Michael’s Church Sharjah Fr. Maxim Pinto, Chairman of Merit Freight Shipping Joseph Mathias, MD of Fortune Group of Hotels and Advisor of KSS Praveen Shetty, President of UAE Exchange Sudhir Kumar Shetty, Patron of KSS Mark Denis, Director of ACME Building Materials and Advisor of KSS Harish Sherigar, President of Indian Association Sharjah Y A Rahim and many other dignitaries along with the President of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah Sugandhraj Bekal, honored Sarvotham Shetty with a shawl, flowers, a memento and a felicitation letter. Sarvotham Shetty, his wife Usha Shetty and his family were welcomed to the stage in a grand procession. The Shetty family was given a traditional ‘Poornakumbha Kalasha’ welcome, with a royal umbrella, the sound of a traditional band and the title of guest of honor.
Addressing the gathering after receiving the honor, Sarvotham Shetty expressed his happiness and thanked the Karnataka Sangha Sharjah for choosing to bestow the prestigious Mayura award upon him. He said, “Karnataka is the land where we learnt humanity and culture. It is the land which united us due to the sacrifice and commitment of our leaders with great vision, poets and reformers who enlightened the state with rich literature and reformations of society. The same love and compassion towards my mother land is inspiring me to serve my mother tongue and culture”. He also wished success to the Karnataka Sangha Sharjah for their activities towards humanity and culture and assured his support for such events ahead.
The colorful evening was inaugurated by the lighting of the traditional lamp and hoisting the flag of Karnataka. Chief Guest U T Khadar, during his address to the gathering, congratulated the organisers for their hard work in making the event a success with outstanding arrangements and wished Sarvotham Shetty a great future and success in his future endeavors.
Chairman of BRS ventures, DR. B R Shetty was the chief guest of honor. He presented the Mayura Global Kannadiga medal to Sarvotham Shetty and expressed his happiness in bestowing the honour upon him, after having inaugurated the Mayura awards back in 2004.
“I am happy to see Sarvotham Shetty is receiving this prestigious honour for his countless efforts towards Kannada and other languages along with the community, he said and proceeded to congratulate the president of the KSS Sugandhrajbekal for making the event truly beautiful.
The event kicked off with a Kannada group dance competition, where 3 teams competed for the Mayura dance award. The Karnataka Sangha Sharjah honoured their sponsors and well-wishers with mementos as a token of their gratitude. Chairman of Reliable Fabricators James Mendonca, Chief of Ace Cranes Gunasheel Shetty, many other businessmen and community leaders were present during the occasion. The bass sounds and sensational lights were powered by the famous event management company Broadway Events. Arathi Adiga, Ganesh Rai and famous guest artist Manoj compered the event.
