Sharjah: On the occasion of the nativity of Mother Mary, St Michael’s Mangalorean Konkani community, Sharjah, celebrated Monthi Fest in a traditional way on 10th September 2015.
Hundreds of children and thousands of Mangalorean Christians participated in holy rituals and offered flowers to Mother Mary. Spiritual Director of SMMKC Rev Fr Maxim Peter conducted prayers and blessed the gathering.
After the flower strewing ceremony, a Eucharistic Celebration was arranged. Fr Maxim Peter, with con celebrants offered the mass and blessed the first cultivation of the farmers’ efforts. During the homily, he explained the values of family life and advised all families to understand Mother Mary’s life and to lead their lives as per God’s will.
After the mass, a cultural event was conducted. SMMKC Co-ordinator Melwyn D’Cunha welcomed the spiritual director Fr Maxim Peter, Parish Priest Fr Varghese Chempoly, Fr Felicio, Fr Prakash Lobo and Fr Walter to the event.
The cultural event included a theme dance by Mogachilahran and troupe. The winners of Jhalak Dhiklaja, Pranam and Dev were a part of the team. Imran Khan and Brian Fernandes choreographed the dance and the show was directed by Vincent Fernandes Cascia.
The event also saw the release of Ajith Peter’ CD. The music CD was released by Fr. Prakash Lobo. Santhosh Nazareth was also present at the occasion.
As a part of the celebration, ‘nove jevche’ was held, where a dinner buffet was served. The cultural ceremony was conducted by Nisha Dsouza and Ashith Pinto.
