Abu Dhabi: Spearhead Abu Dhabi Mangalorean Cricket team won the Eagles Champions trophy EAGLES 2015-16 organized by Eagles Cricketers Abhu Dhabi. The tournament was held at the iconic cricket ground of Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi on Friday, December 4, 2015. A total number of 12 teams of Mangalorean Konkani Community took part in the tournament. In the finals, Spearhead Abu Dhabi Mangaloreans defeated Eagles Cricketers Abu Dhabi by 6 wickets.
Eagles Abu Dhabi had earlier defeated MCBC – Dubai in the first semi final and Spearhead won against GMC-Dubai. The matches began at 9.15 am after the symbolic inauguration of the tournament by Vijay D’souza, representative of main sponsor Regal furnishings & Storage Systems and senior member of Eagles Abu Dhabi Rahim. It was a fun filled day where all the players along with large numbers of family and friends witnessed the keenly contested matches. The atmosphere was kept busy with lively running commentary by Sharan, Prakash and Anup with DJ Music.
In the evening, the Champions Trophy was presented to the winners by Regal furnishings & Storage Systems representative Vijay D’souza and Winston Fernandes and the Runners Up Trophy was presented by Ramesh Shetty of Eldorado Restaurant and Vijay Veigus of Evergreen Nursery. Following this, individual trophies were presented.
