
Paddy Planting and Sediment Field Sports Event at Santhekatte
PM Shri School in Santhekatte recently hosted a unique event, combining paddy planting with field sports, organized by the “Spandana Eco Club” in collaboration with “Netaji Bharat Seva Dal”. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students of PM Shri School, Balle Bailu School, Kurpadi School, and Siddhanayaknamane School, with a total of 120 students from grades 5, 6, and 7 taking part.
The event commenced with a formal inaugural ceremony at the agricultural farm, graced by state-level best farmers awardees. Students actively engaged in planting rows of paddy plants, symbolizing their involvement in agricultural practices. This was followed by a series of field sports activities including a 50-meter race, tug-of-war, betel leaf relay race, bullock cart race, and treasure hunt, promoting teamwork and physical fitness among the participants.
Organizers and participants alike expressed their happiness at integrating agricultural education with academic learning, emphasizing the importance of farming awareness among children.
The event concluded with a formal prize distribution ceremony where trophies and prizes were awarded to the winners. Traditional breakfast and Kashaya were served in the morning, followed by Ganji (porridge) and chutney in the afternoon, providing a taste of local cuisine to all attendees.
Special thanks were extended to Donor Sathish Pai Hebri for arranging transportation, and Udaya Nayak for sponsoring the prizes. Usha Udaya Nayak presided over the closing ceremony, which was attended by Yashpal Suvarana, MLA, local panchayat members, education officials, and representatives from agricultural unions.
